“Debra was enchanting! Her Native American attire and the use of her vocal range immediately captured the attention of the audience and held them throughout the entire performance! Her lively, fast paced presentation included plenty of opportunity for audience participation.”

~Joie Baldock
Youth Director, Kiel Public Library

Debra shared with children, teachers, parents, and others in the audience the passion she has for her culture, her people, her stories. Debra’’s infectious joy and her beautiful stories touched the hearts of everyone near her. Debra weaves her beautiful tales with gentle flute and the heartbeat of drumming into an engaging educational journey. From the moment I contacted Debra to do a Wisconsin Book Festival “Changing Places” program at the Monona Library, she was generous, kind, organized, committed, reliable, and most of all FUN!

Debra was gracious and delightful, even in the midst of the chaotic day with which she was presented, doing three shows in one day for three very different types of audiences. Debra’s stories and her personal experiences about her family for 4th and 5th grade students were welcomed by students and teachers. The 1st & 2nd graders received a different program that was developmental and emotionally appropriate and totally engaging. She presented valuable information to lead each audience to a greater understanding of and respect for Native American people. She presented them with hands-on, interactive ways to learn and remember by allowing them time to explore her “traveling museum”.

Debra presented an evening storytelling program to a full house, over 100 children and adults. This was the first time in 4 years of doing an evening program for the Wisconsin Book Festival that we had more than 50 people at the event. Children who had heard her during the day were delighted to hear a few familiar and some new tales. Families were gifted with an invitation to join her in a Native American Friendship Dance at the conclusion of the evening.”

“Native American Storyteller Debra Morningstar brings her unique blend of knowledge, creativity, and enthusiasm to her storytelling.” Dressed in full Iroquois regalia, she also brings artifacts for the children to examine. She interacts beautifully with children and teaches them valuable lessons as she entertains them.  I would highly recommend Debra to any library, school, or group. She is terrific!”

“Debra was the perfect keynote speaker for our annual meeting. Debra offered a sobering personal history in her unique storytelling fashion that appealed to an audience of sexual assault advocates from every community in Wisconsin. Comments from participants … ‘powerful, awesome, amazing, loved the presentation …’

Debra was a joy to work with. From our first contact, Debra was organized, very straightforward in her communications, personable, sensitive to the needs of our organization and its members, and was never without her sense of humor. She exceeded our expectations in every way.”
